My Final Image

After quite few tests using sparklers and different shape shoes i had a method to sue to create my fianl image. I talked with Seel about my fianl image and she said it would be best not to have the word shoe wrriten on the image as the shape itself was clear enough.



here is one of my attemps to use a sparker to draw with, i found that i needed to move the sparkler quie fast to avoid creating to muh ligh and making a big blur.






these where done infront of an A1 sheet of black paper so i could have my drawn image of a shoe without the camera picking it up as much. I did try doing the images freehand with no image to trace over but they where very odd and looked nothing like a shoe.





My final images which show the method of creating them as the actual imagees themselves. I'm happy with my outcome but with more time i thinkn i could improve the images creating a sleaker design

Proposal

After researching Nauman's art i found that he was very interested in showing the method of creation as art itself, i thought about creating a sculpture of a shoe and displaying the cast as the final piece as well as the shoe. Nauman sculptures where good but i was more interested in his neon sign work so i decided i would try and show the method as the final piece but also try and make it look like neon tubing.

After quite a while I remembered seeing an article in a camera magazine about drawing with light. The process is quite simple with the right settings and a helper to hold the shutter button i could take a long exposure image of me drawing with a torch. The final image created would show where the torch had been therefore showing the method as the final piece. I did a few quick examples to put on my Proposal sheet to explain what i would be doing.



this was one of my first attempts that i did whit a torch after dong this one i had to play around with the tourch untill i could get a nice steady stream of light that looked more light neon tubing.



I like this image as i think it captures the shape of a shoe quite well



I did this image with the same torch but i tryed using an LED cover to change the colour of the light

A Shoe

well i was given a shoe as my project which isn't actually too bad as its quite easy to manipulate things around a shoe and there are so many different types of shoes. So far it seems like this project will be quite enjoyable.

I have a few ideas so far that i will be working on for my proposal next week

Bruce Nauman

MY brief is to research and artist and i was given Bruce Nauman. I went to the library to find a book about hi and his work and after spending a while searching through the mumbering system i found the book i needed. My fist impression of his work was that i liked his method and style he used for the the work he created in neon signs but i thought the actual subject of the images where a bit odd.

I think my presentation on his work went well but i still need to find out more informatin on the reasons behind his work and why he uses neon tubes.
